We're journeying with Jesus down the Way of Sorrows, using the Scriptural Stations of the Cross as our guide.
When Pilate hands Jesus over to be crucified, things get real as Jesus is scourged and crowned with thorns. The scourging was a typical Roman precursor to crucifixion, as brutal as it is. But when the soldiers crowned Jesus as "king," they were taking things a step further by mocking him.
As we visit Station VI, we'll consider the ways we crown others with thorns, and I'll share a personal story about how being mocked led me to mock others.
