We're journeying with Jesus down the Way of Sorrows, using the Scriptural Stations of the Cross as our guide.
Jesus marches toward the hill of crucifixion carrying his own cross. But at some point along the way, Jesus' exhaustion catches up to him. He can't go on. So the soldiers callously grab a man named Simon and force him to carry Jesus' cross.
As we visit Station VIII, we'll consider who this mystery man was. How did Simon feel about being forced to go a mile with Jesus? And did this chance encounter leave him changed?
